Lucille White, 90, on July 20 went to be with the Lord and the many family and friends that passed before her. She was born on Aug. 8, 1925 in Washburn, Ark. Lucille was the first daughter and the fourth child of Gus and Jewel Hicks. Her family would grow to 13 children, four girls and nine boys. In Nov. of 1945 a young Army Sergeant stepped off a bus in Booneville, Ark., at 1 p.m. His name was James Henry White (Jay). He was there to meet Lucille for the first time. They had never met; however, they did correspond during the war. They were married at 7 p.m. that very evening and began their lives together. Lucille had many talents, but was particularly good at making homemade dolls, crocheting glorious Afghans and she was a Master cake decorator. She loved to hunt, fish and camp with her husband, Jay. They had many adventures on trips around the wilds of Arkansas. She was a member of the Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Ft. Smith. She also loved spending time with her family and friends. Especially dining out and shopping with her sister, Betty, who was her caregiver for many years. Lucille is survived by her son, Jim (Terri); grandchildren, Teresa Eden (Heath), Shelly Wood (Mike), Amanda White Zelan,= and Julie Fowler( Lonnie); her brothers, Roy (Loretta), Robert (Iva Lou), Earnest (Lela), Dewayne (Judy), Jerry Don (Gail), Johnny Paul(Linda) and sisters, Margie and Betty. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jay; her daughter, Georgia; three brothers, Thomas, Ray and Lee and one sister, Louise and the recent passing of her lifelong friend and sister-in-law Lavern. Pallbearers: Jack Trook, Jerry Bishop, Carmie Henry, John Edmiaston, Heath Eden and Mike Wood. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel Conway, Ark. with Deacon Carl Don Allen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Interment will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park Conway, Ark. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Conway, Ark.
