Roger Lewis Metzger

Roger Lewis Metzger, 56, of Sheridan, Ark., passed away from this life into his eternal life with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, July 21, 2016. Roger was born on Dec. 14, 1959 to the late Lewis Metzger and mother Bonita. In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Michelle Forte Metzger; one son, Justin and wife Elizabeth Metzger; two daughters, Brittany Metzger and Shelby Metzger; sisters, Joyce Davis and Donna Mullins; grandchildren, Caden, Gunner, Remington; step grandkids, Alexis and Nathan. Roger worked many years as a master electrician. He was currently employed at Jefferson Regional Medical Center as well as his own electrical company. He will always be remembered for his work ethic. When you think of him, first thing that comes to mind is he was a hard working man. When running electrical crews, it was always hard to keep helpers hired - as they could not keep up with him. He believed that a man should work to provide for his family – no greater example of this could be found. He served his God by serving others. Anyone could call on him at any time and he would be there to help in any way possible – always putting others before himself. It is not what we do that is important but the motive behind what we do. Roger's motive was simply to help everyone that he could. He was quiet but always had a smile to share. It is often the quiet ones that simply go about their day, head down, focused on their tasks that make the biggest impact on others. He was a member of W.D. Oliver Hunting Club, where he spent lots of time with family and friends. It was often hard for him to get away from work to go, but he always tried to make time for this time of Christian Fellowship with the club. He loved to hunt as well as fish. He enjoyed watching his kids play sports and looked forward to watching his grandkids. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Sheridan. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Sheridan with Bro. Gary Copeland and Bro. Michael Walton officiating. Burial will follow at Corinth Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5-8 p.m. also at Immanuel Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 206 East Holly, Sheridan, Ark. 72150. Pallbearers are Derric Fleming, Roy Wayne Fleming, Billy Douglass, Robin Carter, Jake McGinley, Brad McGinley.
