Gerald Dwight "Big Daddy" Barnes, 90 years, 10 months, and 17 days old, A World War II Veteran, went to be with the Lord, Saturday June 4, 2016. Gerald was born July 18, 1925 in Horatio to Wesley Luther Barnes and Mary Magdalen Porterfield Barnes, who preceded him in death. Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife, Patsy Smith Barnes; son, Sammy Gerald Barnes (Jean) of Alexander; sister, Rita Culter of Denton, Texas; grandchildren, Jerry Barnes of Alexander, Karen Smith (Joel) of Bryant; great-grandchildren: Sara Coker, Sydney Smith, Brandon Smith; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Barnes was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Black; second wife, Sue Lawson; and sister, Nelleta Jenkins. Gerald was an exterminator and a farmer. He was a graduate of Horatio High School and had an Entomology Degree from Purdue University. Gerald was a hospice volunteer, member of the Lions Club, Arkansas State Plant Board, and the Pulaski County Pest Control Board, United Commercial Travelers. Gerald was awarded the Victory Medal in the U.S. Army. Gerald was affiliated with the Methodist Church. Visitation will be Monday, June 6, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, 1 p.m. at the Funeral Home with Burial following at Hope Cemetery in Perryville, Ark.
