John W. Brannan Sr.

John Warren Brannan Sr. passed away Monday, June 6, 2016 in Prescott, Arkansas after a lengthy battle with heart disease. He was born in Hope, Ark. on May 12, 1929 to Alfred Delma and Ruby Hart Brannan. Johnny was a 1947 graduate of Hope High School and a 1951 graduate of Oklahoma A&M College, now Oklahoma State University. He liked to tell everyone that his college fraternity was "Barn Boys" and his fraternity house was a barn. He came to Prescott on June 22, 1972 as president of the Bank of Prescott and was Chairman of the Board at the time of his death. He loved fishing, gardening, hunting and traveling, especially in his RV. His travels had taken him to all 50 states and most of the Canadian Territories. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Prescott for over 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, A.D. Brannan, Jr. and Orval Brannan. Survivors include his wife Linda Roberson Brannan, three children; Lindy Franks, husband, Jim of Little Rock, Janet McAdams, husband, Phillip of Hot Springs, John Brannan Jr., wife, Debbie of Prescott, Linda's two children, Mary Hughes of Rogers, Mark Cottingham, wife, Natasha, of Haskell, 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 745, Prescott, Ark. 71857. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Prescott, with Rev. David Wilson, Rev. Larry Martineau and Bro. Frank Henson officiating. Visitation will be will prior to the service at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in a private family service.
