Leola Calloway Burns

Leola Calloway Burns, 92, of Strong, Ark. passed away Tuesday, June 07, 2016, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado, Ark. She was born in Laran, La. on September 19, 1923 to the union of Joe Lee and Naughvelle Futch Calloway. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Truman L Burns, Sr., great-granddaughter; Katelyn Burns, daughter-in-law; Barbara Gandy Burns, son-in-law; Jack M. Sherrill, three sisters; Chlorene Jones, Sallie Ham, Allie Cantley, and a brother; Clarence Calloway. Mrs. Burns gave her life to Jesus at Mt. Olive Baptist Church on August 18, 1940 when she was 17 years old. She lived to serve Him the rest of her life at First Baptist Church of Strong, Ark. Survivors include her son; Len Burns, a daughter; Connie Burns Sherrill, three grandchildren; Michael Burns and wife Mila, Wadie Burns, and Melinda Burns Castillo and husband Lencho, five great grandsons; Kelly Burns, Seth Burns, Trace Burns, Justin Burns, and Garrett Castillo, three great-granddaughters; Jaycie Burns, Kendyl Burns and Lilly Burns, all of Strong, four sisters; Sudie Garner of El Dorado, Ark., Martha House of Huntsville, Ala., Jo Ann Smiley of Shreveport, La., Elaine Dees of Hermitage, Ark., three brothers; Victor Calloway of Boston, Mass., Billy Ray Calloway and wife Elouise of Crossett, Ark., Wayne Calloway of Strong, Ark., and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016, 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 554 South Concord, Strong, Ark. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Strong, Ark. with Rev. Harold Cantley and Rev. Scotty Guillot officiating. Interment will be in the Strong Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, of El Dorado, Ark. Any planned memorials may be made to First Baptist Church for the Remodeling of the Foyer, which was a very special project to her. P.O.
