Robert Lewis Butler

On June 1, 2016 the Lord called Robert Lewis Butler (A.K.A. Chicken Hawk) to his Heavenly home. Robert L. Butler was born August 2, 1950 to the late William Butler, Sr. and the late Evangelyn (Pet) Gibson-Butler in Ethel, Arkansas. Robert accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age and united with New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Ethel, Arkansas. Robert rededicated his life to Christ months ago and looked forward to meeting his loved ones in Heaven. Robert graduated from St Charles High School in St Charles, Arkansas in May 1969 and was drafted into the U.S. Army, February 1970. Robert proudly served his country as a cook and was held in high esteem for his culinary skills. Robert attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Robert was a Vietnam Veteran. He continued to show his military pride by joining the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars), Post #7769 in Beebe, Arkansas where he served as Post Commander 2005-2006, and was awarded a Lifetime Membership. Robert is survived by his wife of 13 years, Sherri Butler; two sons, Dalton and Dayton of the home; daughter, Rochea Riley of Truman; two stepdaughters, Brandy Munoz of Ward and Kimberly Ward of Beebe; grandchildren, Cameron, Conner, Anita, Kelsey and Cody; great-granddaughter, Essence; five brothers, William Butler Jr. (Mary), Charles Butler (Rosemary), Curtis Butler (Wanda), Ray Butler (Amy), Thaddeus Beleford; six sisters, Stella Arthur, Carolyn Butler-Rufus, Annette Floyd (Curtis), Sharon Patterson (Floyd), Marilyn Butler-Shelley, and Jeanne Davis-Blair; three aunts, Nola Hurley, Jean Ann White and Hazel Patterson of Cincinnati, Ohio, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth Butler; and sisters, Monique Butler and Marlene Butler-Minor. The family would like to thank Summit Hospice, White County Health Dept., and his nurses Maria, Roxie, Kathleen, Tracy, "Nanny". The wake will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, with Reflections led by Brent Butler. Visitation with the family will follow from 6:40 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2016, at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Butler Cemetery, Ethel, Arkansas.
