Herbert Eldon Varner

Herbert Eldon Varner, 84 years old, of Highfill, Ark., passed away at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale on Saturday, June 4, 2016. He was born on December 14, 1931. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon Varner and Opal Powell Varner; two brothers, Carroll Varner and Dennis Varner; and two granddaughters. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Casey Varner of 55 years. They were married on September 14, 1960. He is also survived by four children, Steve Varner and wife Ruthie of Rogers, Denise Varner Wagner and husband Erwin of Atlanta, Ga., Mark Varner and wife Debbie of Tontitown, and Keven Varner and wife Mary of Highfill; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Herb spent 40 years in the poultry industry working for Armour & Co., Simmons Poultry, and himself. For the last 14 years before his retirement he and his wife Pat owned and operated The Feed Store Cafe of Gentry. He retired in 2008. A memorial service celebrating his life will be July 2, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Corner Post Cowboy Church in Siloam Springs. Services will be conducted by Pastor Tim Wallace. A meal will be served by the church after the memorial.
