Richard Wayne Ward

Richard Wayne Ward, 63 of Dumas, passed away June 12, 2016. He was born in Dumas on April 25, 1953 and was the son of the late Jessie Verlon and Nettie Ruth White Ward. Mr. Ward was a faithful member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church; he served as Assistant Sunday School Director, Assistant Young Adult, Assistant BTC Teacher, Usher and VBS Teacher. He attended UAM Monticello and Graduated Pharmacy School at University of Louisiana Monroe. He was a pharmacist in New Orleans for many years before retiring and moving back to Dumas. He loved his family, church family and friends. He enjoyed substitute teaching for the Dumas School District. Survivors are his children, Neely Walker (Johnny) of Ponchatoula, Louisiana and Jonathan Ward of Lexington, Kentucky, grandchildren, Gaby Cook of Hammond, Louisiana and Cloie Cook of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, sisters, Janet Ward of White Hall, Arkansas and Julia Speegle (JR) of Dumas, Arkansas also a niece, Jessie Speegle of Dumas, Arkansas and nephew, Jacob Penn of White Hall, Arkansas. Visitation to be held beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Calvary Missionary Baptist prior to funeral Services at 2 p.m., with Rev. Julius Carter officiating and burial following in Jefferson Cemetery, Winchester, Arkansas. Memorials can be made to Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 12 Melrose, Dumas, Arkansas 71639.
