Ben Jones Jr.

Mr. Ben Jones Jr., 84, of Tuckerman departed this life on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at his home. He was born Oct. 7, 1931 in Tyronza, Ark., the son of Ben and Notra (Vinson) Jones. Mr. Jones was a member of First Baptist Church in Tuckerman and served as an inactive Deacon. Mr. Jones was a United States Army Veteran and a farm manager for various farmers in and around Marianna, Ark. He enjoyed watching John Wayne westerns, playing dominos, working jig saw puzzles, loved visiting nursing homes, going to church, and most importantly, spending time with his family. Mr. Jones was preceded in death his parents; one son, Robert Jones and one sister, Mary Shambley. He leaves behind his wife of sixty years, Dorothy; one son, Ben Jones and wife Kathy of Mineral Springs; two daughters, Virginia Tyrer and husband Mike of Wellsville, Kan., and Linda Dixon and husband David of Tuckerman; two sisters, Dorothy Peden and Fay Upton both of Turrell; six grandchildren, Sarah Wagner, Josh Tyrer, Bobby Dixon, Amanda Dixon, Shelby Tyrer, and Greg Jones; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Gracelawn Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2016.
