Henry Russell Paulus, Jr., 89, of North Little Rock, went to be with his beloved wife, Regina, on June 19. He was born Oct. 6, 1926 in Hammond, Ind., to Henry and Majorie Paulus. The family moved to Port Arthur, Texas, then settled in Prairie Grove, Ark., where Russell graduated from high school. Russell enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1948. He served stateside until 1952 when he served as an MP during the Korean War. He was at the Koje-do prisoner-of-war camp when Gen. Dodd was taken prisoner for three days during a revolt. He was discharged from the Army as a Sergeant in 1954 and nine days later married Regina Lukas and they shared a life for 52 years. Russell worked as a computer system analyst for state of Arkansas. His other love was the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks North Little Rock Lodge #1004. He joined in 1959 and served for 57 years. He developed great friendships and served as the Exalted Ruler for three terms, was a District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler, state president and state trustee. Russell was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Regina Lukas Paulus. He is survived by two brothers, Arthur Paulus of Bryant, Ark., and John Paulus of Houston, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at North Little Rock Funeral Home on Main Street. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Park Hill Christian Church on JFK Boulevard. Internment ceremony will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum, all in North Little Rock. A special thank you goes to Baptist Hospice and Home Instead Senior Care.
