Marshall Lamar Sullivan
Marshall Lamar Sullivan, 96, of Jacksonville, Ark., died June 24, 2016.
Born in Belleville, Ark., on July 11, 1919, he was the son of Thomas and Pearl Sullivan and was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Noma Baskin Sullivan and nine siblings. He was the honored father of four sons, Jim (Maida) Sullivan, Gerald (Nancy) Sullivan, Sam (Karen Jan) Sullivan and Jan D. (Patti) Sullivan. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Darren Sullivan, Andrew Sullivan, Adam Sullivan, Kate Wetsell, and Payton Sullivan, five great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter.
In 1936, he joined the Second Cavalry, one of the last divisions of the horse cavalry used by the Army, and was stationed at Fort Riley, KS. When WWII began, he entered the 1st Infantry Division of the Army and was sent to France shortly after D-Day.
Eventually settling in Jacksonville, he and Noma raised their family and became devout members of the Church of Christ. He was employed by the VA and then by the Pulaski County School District. Marshall loved and served his family and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 28, at 1 p.m. with services at 2 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, Jerry Burchfield officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
