Edwin Lee Johnson, age 73, was healed and met Jesus on June 25, 2016. Names he was often called were Granddaddy, Daddy, coach, teacher, leader, principal, and Big Ed. Edwin lived by the word of God and demonstrated that by loving God and loving people. Whether it was with his cherished family, athletes, and students, he carried out I Corinthians 13: "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." Lessons were learned not by him telling but by showing. He showed others how to love by serving them. He served in church, school, athletics and community.‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'-Matthew 25:40. For over 20 years, physical limitations did not hinder his quest for life and love of laughter. Loved ones would describe Edwin with attributes, such as man of integrity, humble, God fearing, full of life, and hard working. He loved well and made much of Christ and his faith. For more than 30 years, Edwin devoted his service and love to the students and athletes of Crossett Public Schools. Edwin was a member of First Baptist Church of Crossett for more than 40 years, in which he was a servant, leader, and deacon of the church.
