Ida Charline Henry, 78, of White Hall, Ark. departed her temporary body June 25, 2016 to be with Jesus to await her coming resurrection. She was born October 20, 1937 in Redfield, Ark. to Johnie Edward Walters (deceased) and Lennie Dearmore Walters (deceased) both of Redfield. Four older siblings preceded her in death: Doris Overton, Mamie Wootton, Johnie Walters Jr., and Jean Walker. Two younger siblings still reside in Redfield: Barry Walters and Gwendolyn Liles. Her three children are William Henry Jr. of Batesville, Ark., Teddy Henry of Redfield, and Tamara Henry of Venice Beach, Calif. She is blessed by seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Charline grew up in Redfield attending school there until tenth grade where she then attended White Hall graduating in 1955 as Salutatorian. She enjoyed cheerleading and basketball. At age twelve Charline gave her heart to Jesus during a revival at the Redfield Baptist Church where she was later baptized. Her membership at death was Bethany Missionary Baptist Church at White Hall. After a short career in Houston, TX as a telephone operator, Charline married William Henry upon his returning from Korea on December 8, 1955. With William as a homemaker she spent nearly twenty years during assignments in Fort Polk, LA, Washington D.C., and Bonn, Germany before retiring back to White Hall in 1973. Blessed with both creative and artistic talent and a giving sacrificial servant heart she labored diligently to advance the education of her children and grandchildren well beyond her own to fulfill their dreams. She also excelled in service opportunities around their lives such as a Cub Scout Den Mother, home tutoring, washing sports uniforms, endless meals and transportation, and assisting in pageant preparations. When needed she even temporarily raised some of her grandchildren. Her family still enjoys memories of one height of her creativity to win a hat contest in Germany by weaving a gold birdcage containing small artificial birds into her long beautiful blond hair. Due to extensive residential spreading out of family along with some in overseas deployments a celebration service of her life is planned at a later date with interment in the Redfield Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Redfield Cemetery Association, Inc. P.O. Box 371 Redfield, Ark. 72132. Her children wish to give special thanks to her remaining siblings Gwen and Barry along with her granddaughter Jordan Price who have gone above and beyond in loving care in her time of need. Her last request to be read at her death is the following clipping of unknown source: "My last request: Please don't say that I gave up, just say that I gave in. Don't say I lost the battle, for it was God's war to lose or win. Please don't say how good I was, but that I did my best. Thank God for my soul's resting. Thank God for all who love me. Praise God who loved me best." -Author unknown. Arrangements by Roselawn Funeral Service and Crematory in Pine Bluff. Online guestbook at www.griffinfuneralservice.net.
