Charles Wayne Downey, 58, passed away March 2, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a beloved son, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and fireman. His life revolved around his family and he loved being "Papa" to his grandbabies. He also loved being a Little Rock fireman, where he served for 14 years before retiring due to injury. The brotherhood meant the world to him. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Blake Downey, and is survived by many family and friends, including his mother, Anne Davis (Ralph) of Perryville; his four daughters, Darla Yarbrough of Little Rock, January Cross (Scott) of Little Rock, Tracie Hogland (Jason) of Benton, and Stacie Canady (Sean) of Vilonia; his brothers Eddie Downey (Louise) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Steve Downey (Tina) of Acworth, Ga.; his sister, Lisa Lay (Tracy) of Bryant; his eight grandchildren - Maddy, Avery, Jacie, Christian, Anna, Tanner, Lily, and Denver; and 6 nieces and nephews. A special thank you to CARTI for helping Dad with his fight, to all of his friends who stood by him and encouraged him along the way, and, of course, to the LRFD. You all knew how to bring out that "Wayne Downey" smile. A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 10th at First Southern Baptist Church in Bryant at 2 p.m., with visitation starting at 1 p.m. Arrangements are by Rosewood Cremation and Funeral Conway, Ark.
