Annabelle M. Norton passed in peace on March 2, 2016 in Searcy, Arkansas. Annabelle was born on February 25, 1920 in Saylor Township, Iowa to George and Ceceilia Schlenker. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Col. Merle Cunningham, USAF and Robert Norton, six brothers and two sisters. She is survived by two sons, Retired Mst Sgt Merle Cunningham (Reba) USMC Army,of Searcy, Retired Lt. Col. Nevin Cunningham (Mary) USAF of Dallas, a daughter, Kathy Norton of Searcy, nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Annabelle was a graduate of Iowa State Teachers College in Ames, Iowa. She had taught school in Florida, Arkansas, and California. She retired in 1980 as a special education teacher. She was active in programs as 4-H, PTA and BPW Organizations, where she had served as president, vice-president and treasurer for each. She moved to Beebe, Arkansas after retiring to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She joined the First Presbyterian Church in Beebe and became active in the Vera Lloyd Home for girls. She served as secretary there for 12 years. She also worked in the Food Drive for many years. Memorials maybe donated to the Vera Lloyd Presbyterian Home 1501 N. University Ave., Little Rock, Arkansas 72207 or the Arkansas State School for the Blind and Handicapped 900 W. Capitol Ave,, Little Rock, Arkansas 72201-3108.
