Nancy E. Carroll
Nancy Ethelyne Garlington Carroll, 74, of Benton, passed away March 10, 2016. She came into this world at home to Doyle and Paulette Garlington in Cooterneck, Dallas County.
She graduated Fordyce High School and shortly thereafter moved to Benton.
There she found work at a Sterling's store. While working in the curtain rod department she met her future husband, Randall Carroll. Randall was usually busy sweeping the floors and stocking the shelves.
After a year long courtship, they married at her grandparent's home in Bucksnort, also in Dallas County, on June 21, 1963. They chose to make their home in Benton. Four years later Nancy gave birth to the couple's first child, Juli. Five years later, son Matthew came along. Nancy worked part time at various jobs for many years, but her favorite job was as a wife and mother. She ended her work career with Union Bank. After retirement, Nancy and Randall hit the road.
Nancy adored travel. She and Randall visited much of the United States as well as Canada and Mexico. Her favorite destination-the beach at Galveston.
Nancy was a devoted follower of Christ, attending church her entire life. She attended Calvary Baptist Church in Benton and later Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock, until her health prevented her from making the weekly trip.
Nancy was above all a loving wife and mother. Her love for Randall, her children, and her grandchildren was beyond question.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Peggy.
Survivors include her husband Randall, daughter Juli Atkinson (Ronnie), son Matthew, grandchildren Ross, Caroline and Reed Atkinson and Jack, Charlie and Catie Carroll. Siblings: Carol Sisson, Janette Bell, Doyle Garlington Jr., and Ike Garlington.
She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held Monday, March 14 at 11 a.m. at Ashby Funeral Home in Benton. There will be a one hour visiting period starting at 10 a.m. Dr. Ken Shaddox of Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock will officiate the service.
