Nadine B. Keener, 84, of Bella Vista, passed away Tuesday, March 15 at Circle of Life Hospice, in Bentonville, Ark. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Don, her parents, Ernest and Mary Smith, sister, Dorothy, brothers, Carl, Jack and George and granddaughter Shana Fox. She is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Linda and John Fox of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Shelly and Richard Janssen of Ellsworth, Kansas, Kim and Alan Anschutz of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and one son, Brian Keener and his wife, Lynne of Ellsworth, Kansas. Nadine is also survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Nadine was born November 9, 1931 to Ernest and Mary Smith in Omaha, Arkansas. At an early age her family moved to Salina, Kan. where she graduated high school. While working in a drug store she met the love of her life Don (M.D.) Keener. They were wed on March 26, 1950. They lived and raised their four children in Kanopolis, Kansas prior to retiring to Bella Vista, Ark. in 1993. Don and Nadine were married for 61 years before Don's passing in 2011. Nadine was an avid bowler, golfer, bridge player, and an excellent seamstress, even making her daughters' wedding dresses. Nadine loved music and singing. In her youth, she sang in an acapella choir. She was also a competitive roller figure skater. Some of you may remember her from her many years playing golf in the Women's 18 hole group, and she and her husband Don also played in several couples golf groups. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 19 at 2 PM at Parsons Funeral Home, 307 N. Lincoln in Ellsworth, Kan. Condolences may be made at parsonsfh.com or funeralmation.com.
