Lavon McManus

Lavon McManus passed away on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016. He was born on November 7, 1930 in Tulip, Arkansas to Bart and Mell (Williams) McManus. He was preceded in death by his parents and two granddaughters; Rachel McManus and Melissa Suel Pennington. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen Peters McManus; one daughter, Laurie Suel (Greg); two sons, Brent McManus (Karen) and Mark McManus (Shelia); three grandsons, Jason Suel, Wesley McManus and John McManus; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Murl Deaton (Tommy); a very special cousin, Betty Leamons and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lavon worked forty four years for International Paper Co. and retired as Pulp Mill manager. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ, his family and his church, Fairview United Methodist where he served faithfully for years in many areas; Church Council, Staff Pastor Relations Committee, Finance Committee, Board of Trustees, United Methodist Men, Chancel Choir and Good Samaritan Food Pantry. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2016 at Proctor Funeral Home and his funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Fairview United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
