Gary LaVerne Harper

Gary LaVerne Harper, 65, of Star City died Saturday at his home. He was born October 11, 1950 in Lincoln County to the late LaVerne and Kathryn Bradshaw Harper. He was of the Methodist faith and was a United States Army Veteran. He was a retired Police Officer with the Star City Police Department. He was a member of the Sons of the Confederacy, Sons of the American Revolution, V.F.W and American Legion Roy Jason Fish Post #37. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Kevin B. Harper. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Harper; son, Kevin (Katrina Meek) Harper; two daughters, Tracy (Frank) Puydak and Katie (Stephen) Pier; two brothers, Ronnie Harper and Barry Harper; six grandchildren, Jericho Ware, Brody Puydak, Joshua Pier, Jeremy Pier, Corey Meek and Gabrielle Meek. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Friday at Griffin Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bill Hilburn officiating. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial at Best Cemetery.
