Wallace Britton Britton Freeman

Wallace Britton Freeman of Sheridan, Arkansas was born November 28, 1922 in Smackover, Arkansas, the son of the late Richard E. Freeman and Georgia A. Scott Freeman. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Sheridan and was retired from Freeman Oil Company. He was a former member of Sheridan Rotary Club, Lions Club, and Arkansas Oil Marketers Assn., and a former Sheridan City Councilman, and charter member of Grant County Savings and Loan. He was a World War II Veteran and had also served on the Sheridan School Board. He enjoyed fishing, golf and hunting as a young man. Mr. Freeman died at his home on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the age of 93. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Keen and Ezell Edwards. Survivors: loving wife of 73 years, Nita Jane Freeman; sons, Wallace Freeman and wife Donna, Dan Freeman and wife Pam all of Sheridan; grandchildren, Chris and wife Sarah Freeman, Stacy and husband Andrew Weitz, Kristin and husband Jason Wood, Brock Freeman and fiancé Kelsey, Darby McCormack, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; sisters, Eva Hardwick and Betty Dickinson as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ernest DeSoto and Dr. Ed Simpson officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Creek cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 1201 South Rock, Sheridan, Arkansas 72150. Pallbearers are Chris Freeman, Brock Freeman, Andrew Weitz, Jason Wood, Dominic Freeman, and Ed Waddell, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Barry Culpepper. Billy Van May, David Reynolds and Dan Saunders.
