Geirmund Svein "Jerry" Johannesen

Geirmund Svein "Jerry" Johannesen, 84, of Decatur, died Monday, May 2, 2016. He was born January 7, 1932 in Bergen, Norway to Johan and Sofia Kravik Johannesen. Jerry, as a child, survived two bouts of Tuberculosis and the German occupation of Bergen during WWII. He moved his family to the United States in 1951. He was a master painter, artist, and enjoyed skiing. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved teaching his talents and trades to his sons. Jerry was one of Jehovah's witnesses. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisbeth Pierce, in 2010. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Inger (Mykkelvedt) Johannesen of the home; three sons, Terje Johannesen of Decatur, Kenneth Johannesen of Springdale, Peter Johannesen of Richardson, Texas; a brother, Jan Helge Johannesen of Florida; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1701 Pine Woods Road in Springdale. Arrangements are with Heritage Funeral Home.
