Ophelia Knighton Schee

Ophelia Knighton Schee was born February 14, 1923, at Buckner, Ark. to the union of Caver Newton Knighton and Addie Mae Baker. She died on May 10, 2016, at Sheridan Healthcare and Rehab at the age of 93. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Simuel Knighton and C.N. Knighton Jr.; three sisters, Juanita Finlayson, Mary Shurtleff, and Virginia Knighton; her husband of 55 years, John I. Schee, Jr., and an infant daughter, Sandra Sue Schee. Survivors include brothers, Ray and Loyce Knighton, sisters, Margaret Habenicht and Joyce Howard; a daughter, Becky (Freddie) Ross and a son, J.N. (Peggy) Schee,; grandchildren, Chris and Mandy Schee and David Ross; and three great-grandchildren, Griffon and Myranda Schee and Jonathan Ross. Mrs. Schee graduated from Magnolia A&M College in 1943 and taught school at Garland AR until her marriage in July 1945 and subsequent relocation to Camden, Ark. She was a long-time member of Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Camden, and was very involved in church activities there until she moved to Sheridan in 2005 to be with family. She was an accomplished seamstress, and enjoyed quilting and fishing. Additionally, she was active in Woodmen of the World fraternal events, particularly Senior Camp activities. In 1997 she received honors as Arkansas Fraternalist of the Year. Services will be conducted by Bro. Larry Bloomfield at Proctor Funeral Home Chapel in Camden, Saturday, 2 p.m., May 14, 2016 with visitation from 12:30 p.m. until service and interment will be in Bethesda Cemetery.
