Glenn Bratlie Malmquist, age 91, of North Little Rock passed from this life on earth to his Heavenly home on Thursday, May 12, 2016. He was born April 21, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Olga and Raymond Malmquist Sr. He married Karen Hindman on September 23, 1977. After his service in the Army during World War II, Glenn returned to Chicago and worked in construction. He moved to North Little Rock, Arkansas in 1962 and started his own business, GB Malmquist Concrete Construction. He sold that business and worked for the Arkansas Highway Department as an inspector until his retirement. Glenn was a member of the Sylvan Hills Community Church in Sherwood. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Virginia Malmquist Jr., father-in-law, R.L. Hindman, and sister-in-law, Melinda Stevens. He is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Gregg (Rina) Malmquist of Bowling Green, Ky.; Brenda Malmquist of Little Rock; Jason Akins of North Little Rock and three grandchildren, Jacob, Annie and Nick; mother-in-law, O'Neal Hindman, sisters-in-law, Sharon (Leon) Wheeler, Bunny (Ed) Barron, Peggy (Robert) Cotton, Melodie (Mike) May, Mickey (Stan) Conrad; brother-in-law, Joe (Bea) Hindman along with many nieces, nephews and special friends that he loved; his dear friend, Ray Bryant, who was a true friend for many years, especially the last days of Glenn's life and his "boys", Ty and Barnaby. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sylvan Hills Community Church, 8019 Hwy. 107, Sherwood, Ark. 72120 or to your favorite charity. A memorial service will be held to honor Glenn's life at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 15th at Sylvan Hills Community Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. www.griffinleggettresthills.com.
