Joe Stobaugh

Mr. Joe Russell Stobaugh of Jonesboro, Arkansas, departed this life on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at the age of 89. He was born January 15, 1927 in Conway County, Arkansas, the son of James Monroe and Lucinda Scroggins Stobaugh. Mr. Stobaugh worked 32 years for Arkansas Power and Light, retiring as Manager in Harrisburg in 1988. He was a United States Army veteran, serving in World War II, and was a member of the Rotary Clubs of Harrisburg and Newport. Mr. Stobaugh was a member of the First Baptist Church of Newport, where he was honored to serve as a Deacon. He was preceded in death by two brothers; three sisters. Mr. Stobaugh is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jean O'Brien Stobaugh of Jonesboro; one daughter, Joy Lynn McNeil (Randy) of Jonesboro; one son, Russell Brien Stobaugh (Janell) of Plano, Texas; five grandchildren, Meredith McNeil Causey (Chad) of Little Rock, Joseph McNeil (Ashley Cummings) of Jonesboro, Taylor Stobaugh, Tanner Stobaugh, and Trent Stobaugh, all of Plano, Texas; one great-grandchild, Claire Causey of Little Rock; several nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends. Friends may visit at the funeral home, Saturday, May 14, 2016, beginning at 10 a.m. Funeral services will follow at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. with Rev. Marvin Reynolds officiating. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Joseph McNeil, Taylor Stobaugh, Tanner Stobaugh, Trent Stobaugh, Chad Causey, and Jimmy Newman.
