David Ray James, Jr., 45, of Benton, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016, after a short battle with cancer. He was born March 14, 1971 in New Albany, Ind., to David Ray and Linda Walker James, Sr. He was preceded in death by his father, David James, Sr. David was an avid sports fan, bowler, and has always worked at a bowling center. Whether he was running a bowling center, bowling or coaching others — he was at home in a bowling center. David worked at Enterprise Lanes for 15 years until it closed. He was actively involved in the youth bowling program, and was a director on the Central Arkansas USBC Youth Board. David helped coach the Benton High School with their bowling team. He considered all of the youth bowlers his kids. David always went out of his way to help others. He is survived by his wife, Marian, whom he married on January 2, 2006; mother, Linda Walker; niece, Lindsay Johnson; sister, Tammy Porter; stepdaughter, Brandy Westbrook (Kirk); two grandchildren, Madelyn and Zane Westbrook; and numerous friends. Chapel services by Ashby Funeral Home will be 10 a.m. Wednesday with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Little Rock. Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Ashbys.
