Dorothy Dean Gatling

Dorothy "Dot" Dean Campbell Gatling, age 88, of Morrilton, formerly of Forrest City, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016, in Conway. She was born Nov. 4, 1927, at Forrest City. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Forrest City. She also attended First Baptist Church, Morrilton, and Woodland Heights Baptist Church, Conway. She was a retired Planter's Bank employee, artist, and housewife. She enjoyed watercolor painting, china painting, needlepoint, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, and collecting antiques. She was a member of The Birthday Girls, The Breakfast Club, The Thursday Watercolor Group, and The Sherwood China Painters. She is survived by four sons, Mark Gatling and wife Nazija of Florida, Jim Gatling of Morrilton, Lance Gatling and wife Atsuko of Tokyo, Japan, and Craig Gatling and wife Leslie of Forrest City; eight grandchildren, Blake Gatling and wife Cindy of Springfield, Ark., Lori Davis of Atlanta, Ga., Lissa Barnett of Choctaw Beach, Fla., Mary Allison of Sarasota, Fla., John Gatling, U.S. Marine Corps, Calif., Chris Gatling of Omaha, Neb., Katy Johnson of Lafayette, Ind., and Ashley Hawley of Somonauk, Ill.; eight great-grandchildren, including Maggie Gatling and Will Gatling of Springfield, Ark.; and very special friends, Harry and Rita Caldwell and Johnny and Libby Hoyt of Morrilton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William "Bill" Chambliss Gatling and parents, James Carl Campbell and Myrtle Davis Campbell, all of Forrest City. Graveside services were held at Forrest Park Cemetery, Forrest City, on Friday, May 14, with the Rev. Gene Crawley, First Baptist Church, Forrest City, officiating. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Forrest City, First Baptist Church, Morrilton, Sacred Heart Catholic School Endowment, Morrilton, or the Alzheimer's Association.
