Marny Thompson

Marny Thompson, 83, of McGehee, Ark. went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 18, 2016. Marny was born January 19, 1933 in Drew County, Ark. to the late Will Henry and Alberta Tucker Thompson. He was a lifelong farmer and cattleman. Marny loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He also enjoyed woodworking. Marny was a deacon at First Baptist Church of McGehee and was a former song leader at McArthur Baptist Church for many years. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his twin sister, Mary Ann McNeely and brothers, Joe Thompson, Hal Thompson, Clayton Thompson, and W.H. Thompson. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Lola Mae Thompson; daughter, Darlene Simpson and her husband, Steve of McGehee, Ark.; grandchildren, April Wilson and Shawn (Serina) Simpson; great-grandchildren, Grace Wilson, Nicolas Wilson, Daniel Wilson, Eli Simpson, and Parker Simpson. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2016 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, Ark. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016 at First Baptist Church in McGehee, Ark. with Dr. Ed Balducci officiating. Burial will follow at Tillar Cemetery in Tillar, Ark.
