A Graveside Service for Frances Lorene Owen Wise of North Little Rock, Arkansas, formerly of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 3 p.m., Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Baxter Memorial Gardens, Mountain Home, Arkansas. Lorene passed away May 18, 2016, in North Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 98. She was born September 11, 1917, in Newton County, Arkansas, the daughter of Dave and Leona Criner Owen. She married James Samuel Wise, Jr. on June 3, 1939, at Fayetteville. Lorene lived in Mountain Home from 1946 until she moved to North Little Rock, Arkansas, in 2000. She did bookkeeping for the family-owned Twin Lakes Dairy and Jim Wise Realty while also teaching second and later fourth grades in the Mountain Home School District. She received a Bachelor's degree from Arkansas Tech, a Master's degree from the University of Central Arkansas and became a licensed real estate broker in 1969. She was named Teacher of the Year for Mountain Home in 1978 and Woman of the Year by the Mountain Home Business and Professional Women's Club. She retired from teaching in 1982. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma, Tau Gamma Gamma, Baxter County Retired Teachers, and the Baxter Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Mountain Home and later Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Wise, a son, Robert Wise, and brothers Al Owen, Red Owen, and Otto Owen. She is survived by a son, Rick Wise and wife Jean of Summerville, S.C., a daughter, Linda Moore and husband Ted of Sherwood, Ark., and sister, Irene Hewett of Charleston, Ark., seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
