Betty La Nell Davenport, 87, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 at Delta Memorial Hospital in Dumas, Ark. She was born Oct. 19, 1928 in McAlister, Okla. to Vera Hurst Waymire Caldwell and David Waymire. She was reared in Little Rock, Ark. by her mother and stepdad, Guy Edwin Caldwell. She was a graduate of North Little Rock High School where she was the drum major. She attended College of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Ark. and met W. L. "Bill" Davenport whom she married on July 30, 1954. Mrs. Davenport was a housewife and stay-at-home mom while her children were in school. Later in life, she was a secretary for Dr. Frank Reed and worked for Memorial Park Cemetery. She is preceded in death by her parents and stepdad; her husband of 62 years; and two grandsons, Blake Kemp and Bradley Kemp. She is survived by her four children: a daughter, Starr Kemp and husband, Jake of McGehee; three sons: Kim Davenport of Pine Bluff, Clay Davenport and wife, Linda, of Rison, Todd Davenport of Ben Wheeler, Texas; two granddaughters, Bridget Gill and husband, Chris of McGehee and Brandy Barnett of Woodlawn; four great-grandchildren: Tyler Clavet and fiancé, Eric Hogan, Garrett Clavet and wife, Cheyenne, all of McGehee; Hunter and Lauren Barnett of Woodlawn; and one great-great grandson, Bradley Gray McCoy of McGehee. Funeral services will be Monday, May 23, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son with Reverend James Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
