Oscar Earl Hollinger, age 79, of Monticello, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born Dec. 15, 1936 in Dermott, Ark. to the late Raleigh Hollinger, Sr. and Alpha Stueart Hollinger. Oscar has lived in Monticello since 1958. He was a 1960 graduate of Arkansas A&M College (now UAM) where he obtained his BS Degree in Business and was awarded the Most Outstanding Football Player Award. He was also the recipient of the UAM Merit Award in 1988. He was a retired businessman and former partner of Dura Craft Boat Company, owner of Southern Design Cabinet Company, a United States Army National Guard Veteran and a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Always very involved in city and county organizations, Oscar served as a Quorum Court Justice of the Peace for many years and coached many champion Little League teams. He was an avid athlete, a sports fan and loved to hunt and fish. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Hollinger and Benny Hollinger. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Melba Hollinger of Monticello; one son, Larry Hollinger of Shreveport, La.; two daughters, Leslie Searcy and husband, Charlie of Monticello and Lauri Earnest and husband, Larry of Star City; one brother, Junior Hollinger of Dermott; three sisters: Linda Heflin of Monticello, Frances Willard of Sterlington, La., and Clarine White of Pine Bluff; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Monday, May 23, 2016 at First Baptist Church with Rev. David Jacks and Rev. Dennis Dodson officiating. Burial will be in Tyro Cemetery.
