Harvey Clyde Holzhauer

Harvey Clyde Holzhauer, 87, of Gillett passed away May 22, 2016. He was born December 4, 1928, in Gillett to Herman and Anna Lena Schmidt Holzhauer. Harvey was a retired farmer and a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Gillett Farmers and Businessmen's Club, former fire chief of the Gillett Volunteer Fire Department, a guide for and caretaker of Flag Lake Hunting Club, a past member of the St. Paul Men's Club, and a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving and devoted wife of 59 1/2 years, Billie Garris Holzhauer; one daughter, Sharon Gruber; brother, Neal Holzhauer; and sister Margie Place. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Tommy and Margaret Holzhauer of Gillett, Mitzi and Dennis Dixon of Gillett, Ray Holzhauer of Gillett, and Fred and Melissa Holzhauer of Ash Flat; eight grandchildren Shane Holzhauer (Samantha), Sloan Beverburg, Lyndsey Dilks, Collin Holzhauer (Sloane), Baylor Dixon, Chandler Holzhauer, Peyton Holzhauer, and Maggie Holzhauer; four great grandchildren Lacey and Colby Holzhauer, Brunner Wood, and Holden Holzhauer; and two sisters Florence Piver of Bishopville, S.C., and Hazel McCauley of Pine Bluff. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 24 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Gillett with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery by Essex Funeral Home.
