Carroll Lee Lackey

Carroll Lee Lackey, 88, of Conway passed away on May 27, 2016. Carroll was born in Holland Community, Ark., on Saturday, Oct. 22, 1927, a son of the late Ernest Fay Lackey and Nellie Ray Carroll. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gerald Wayne Lackey; a sister Faye Lackey and one nephew, Donnie Higgins. Carroll was a long time employee of Elmer's Home and Auto and of the Conway Human Development Center where he retired as Purchasing Agent. He was employed at the CHDC before clients were accepted. He was a member of the Cattleman's association. He raised beef cattle for almost 50 years, a hobby he enjoyed. He was also a charter member of Conway Jaycees, serving as its first secretary. He was a member of the Robinson and Center Church of Christ. He is survived by his Wife, Geraine Higgins Lackey of 65 years; one son, Geoffrey (Geoff) Lackey (Peggy); one daughter, Denita Lackey Lands (Mike); and one sister, Eva Lou Lackey Shettles (Bobby); two granddaughters, Micah Lands and Jenna Lands May (Jay); two great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Jackson May; two sisters-in-law, Bert Lackey, Lois Higgins; two nephews, Todd Shettles, Rodney Higgins (Michi); two nieces, Holley Strandlund (Brian) and Kimberly Searles (Brian) and other numerous great nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, at Roller McNutt Funeral Homes in Conway. Interment will follow at Crestlawn in Conway.
