Louise Elizabeth Washington Calloway

Louise Elizabeth Washington Calloway, 83, of Mountain Home, formerly of Pine Bluff, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016. She was born March 28, 1933 in Winnsboro, La. to Uldine and E.P. Washington. She graduated from Bastrop High School in 1951 and then attended Northeast Louisiana University from which she earned a degree in elementary education in 1955. She moved to Pine Bluff, Ark. in 1957 and began working at the Pine Bluff Arsenal. She wed Charles Calloway on June 24, 1958 in Bastrop, La. They made their home in Pine Bluff where she was active in Central Presbyterian Church and enjoyed gardening with her husband. She worked in the Trust Department of Simmons Bank in Pine Bluff for 23 years. Louise was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; sister, Dorothy LeGuin; brother, Bill Washington; and nephew, Robert Washington. She is survived by her sister, Catherine Ezell of Fontana, Calif.; son, Sid (Leslie) Calloway of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Karen (James) Stark of Steckborn, Switzerland; daughter, Gail Calloway of Mtn Home; grandchildren: Zac (Hannah) Calloway and Isaac Calloway, Henry and Louis Stark, and Sunny Rhoades; sister-in-law, Dot Washington of Monroe, La; niece, Kathy Barr of Choudrant, La.; and several other nieces and nephews. Louise was a kind, loving soul who enjoyed spending time with her family, her church family, having lunch and playing bingo and canasta at the Senior Center and meeting with her fellow members of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She will be remembered for her warm heart, quiet dignity and gentle ways. Special thanks to the caring staff at Elmcroft Assisted Living, Gassville Rehab and Living and to loving caregiver, Stephanie Clark, RN. A memorial service will he held 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Christian Church of Mountain Home with Pastor Gene McCoy officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or The Christian Church of Mountain Home. Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home.
