Avinell Rice Brown

Avinell Rice Brown, age 85, of Paron, passed away Monday, October 31, 2016. She was born April 17, 1931 in Paron, Arkansas to the late Noah and Opal Williams. Mrs. Brown worked as a hairdresser in Hot Springs with her sister, Doris, for 25 years; also in Little Rock for 15 years. The thing she loved most, with the exception of her children and grandchildren, was working in her big yard and all the flowers. Her favorite flower was the Stargazer Lillies. Of course she loved the Lord most; having been a member of the Paron Church of Christ for over 70 years which was her second family. She was preceded in death by her parents; the husband of her children, Stanley (Bud) Rice; her second husband, Derwood Brown and two sisters, Shirley Taylor and Maxine Prince. She is survived by her son, Stanley "Steamer" Rice; two daughters, Ava (Rice) Casey and Amy Blaylock (Mark); two brothers, Hoyt and Neil Williams; two sisters, Doris Legge and Yvonne Ault; four grandchildren, Chris Pierce (D'Ann), Tabatha Koder, Abby Meier (Marcus) and Vince Blaylock; five great-grandchildren, Josh Pierce, Christin Pierce, Cameron Pierce, Audrey Koder and Brody Koder; three step-children and three step grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews she loved a lot. Pallbearers will be Glen Kordsmeier, Chris Pierce, Donnie Odle, Rudy Westbrook, David Turbyfill, Pete Taylor, Larry Orme and Vince Blaylock. Honorary pallbearers will be Duran Stapleton and Lamar James. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 2 at Ashby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, November 3 at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at Bolin Cemetery. Dennis Gage and Jeff Christmas will be officiating.
