Winnie Lea Welch

Winnie Lea Welch, 94, of Paducah, Kentucky passed away, October 31, 2016. She was born August 1, 1922 in Clinton, Arkansas to the late Larn and Ethel Griggs, and was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 68 years, Girthal A. Welch; one sister, Wilma Campbell. Mrs. Welch and her husband resided and worked in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, enjoying several careers. After retiring from the Ben Pearson Company, she and her husband spent many seasons exploring the U.S. with their friends in their travel trailers. They seasonally worked for the Corp of Engineers at parks on the Arkansas River for many years. They worked as a team, and considered this more of a hobby than work. Winnie was a member of Central Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, where she taught Sunday school classes, sang in the choir, and was member of the Women's Missionary Union. The Welch's eventually moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas, living at Country Club Village, and in 2011, she moved to Jackson Oaks in Paducah, Kentucky. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Paxton of Paducah, Kentucky; son, Ben Welch (Linda) of Frisco, Texas; Three grandchildren: Cindy James (Steve) of Paducah, Kentucky; Dana Halderman (Stephen) of Pearland, Texas; and Kristin Waddill (Jeff) of Plano, Texas; six great-grandchildren: Lauren Ballard (Josh); Dylan, Ryan, and Tyler Halderman; and Benjamin and Kate Waddill; two great-great grandchildren: Kayleigh and Karson Ballard; two Sisters: Delphia McKim and Jean Williams of Little Rock, Arkansas, and several nieces and nephews. A private family service will take place at CedarVale Cemetery in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to CedarVale Funeral Home, Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.
