Jerry Lyn Virden, age 77, of Morrilton, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016. He was born April 5, 1939 in Russellville, a son of the late Morris W. Virden and Mary Barton Virden. He obtained a forestry degree from Arkansas A &M in 1964, was a Mill Manager for Green Bay Packaging Inc. at the Pinecrest Lumber Division and of the Methodist Faith. He was active in the community and served on the Chamber of Commerce Board, and in the Morrilton Rotary Club. An avid golfer, he volunteered as director of the Morrilton Country Club Junior golf program and as coach of the Sacred Heart golf teams. His life centered around his family. His survivors include: his wife of 58 years, Martha Virden; son, Bart Virden (Janna) of Morrilton; daughter, Lynlee Maus (John) of Morrilton; sister, Glenna Baker (Ray) of Russellville; seven grandchildren: Jessica Mallett (Trey), Bryant Virden (Rebecka), Elijah Virden, J.B. Maus, Jerry (Hamp) Maus, Stephen Maus, Anna Lee Maus and one great-grandchild; Anna Faye Mallett. A Memorial Service will be held 4 p.m. Friday, November 4, at the First United Methodist Church of Morrilton with Rev. Katie Pearce officiating. Arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The First Tee of Morrilton in care of Community Service Youth Foundation, The Sacred Heart Capital Campaign, and Morrilton First United Methodist Church.
