Shelby Jean Whiting Osborne

Shelby Jean Whiting Osborne of Benton, Arkansas passed away October 28, 2016 at age 77. She was born October 19, 1939 in DeWitt, Arkansas. She graduated from Gillett High School and moved to Little Rock, Arkansas where she attended Draughon's School of Business. She was a secretary employed by several companies over the years including Laborers International Union and AR AFLCIO where she was secretary to Bill Becker and Jimmy Clark. She retired from that position in 2000. Shleby is survived by her husband, William "Rudy" Osborne of Benton, Arkansas; one brother, Donel Whiting (Pat) of Alexander, Arkansas; four sisters, Margie Roushall (Zack) of Benton, Arkansas, Carolyn Bell (Mike) of Tichnor, Arkansas, Libby Davis of Bryant, Arkansas, and Sherry Hackney of Gillett, Arkansas; two grandsons, Phillip Gerke of Shreveport, Louisiana and Billy Bowers of Benton, Arkansas; five great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Libby Cooper (Carlie) of Eagleville, Tennessee and Kelly Mihm (Steven) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; five step-grandchildren, William (Kristin) Cooper and Randall Cooper of Eagleville, Tennessee, Kearsten (Wes) Caudill, Tyler Releford, Molly Mihm of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and three step great-grandchildren. Shelby is preceded in death by her daughter, Joy Bowers of Mabelvale, Arkansas; parents, Shelby and Jennie Whiting; and brother, Robert Wade Whiting of Tichnor, Arkansas. Shelby was a loving wife, sister, and friend. She was a born care-giver, always available to family and friends who needed help. In her younger days, she loved to fish and hunt. She liked music and would follow her husband where he played steel guitar in various bands. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
