Theodore William Olson, age 94, of Bella Vista and a 30 year resident of Bella Vista, Arkansas passed peacefully after a short illness into his Lord's Presence on November 6, 2016. Mr. Olson is survived by his best friend and wife of 67 years, Beth Stockwell Olson. Ted and Beth enjoyed living for the past year at The Meadows in Bentonville. Mr. Olson was born on November 28, 1921 in Beattie, Kansas, one of six children. He was a Navy underwater demolition expert, the precursor of the Navy Seals, during World War II. Ted received his undergraduate degree and his Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from Kansas State University. He worked for Phillips Petroleum in Kansas City for 30 years, where he and Beth raised three children: daughter, JoAnn (Lionel) Helweg, sons, Bill (Abby) Olson and James Olson. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Nathan (Maria), Heather and Laura Helweg, Alexandra and Teddy Olson; three great-grandchildren, Corbin, Larson and Beckett Helweg; one sister, Jeannette Keck and numerous nieces and nephews. Ted was a longtime member of Kiwanis and as a very enthusiastic fisherman enjoyed his membership in the Bella Vista Fly Tyers Club. Ted and Beth spent 10 rewarding years working for the Mobile Missionary Assistance Program, where they traveled around the country contributing expertise and labor on many construction projects for various churches, Christian Camps and counseling centers. While residents of Bella Vista they enjoyed membership in Abundant Life Ministry and Evangelical Free Church. A Memorial Service is to be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at the Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Chuck Worth will be officiating.
