Leon Vance Reece, 72, of Bentonville, Ark. passed away suddenly, Monday, November 7, 2016 in Bentonville. He was born October 1, 1944 in Brownfield, Texas to Leonard Eugene and Eva Idell James Reece. He was a proud retiree of the Army National Guard 142nd Battalion, out of Bentonville. He began his career, as a young volunteer fire fighter/paramedic, and worked his way to being the Bentonville Fire Chief for many years. He also felt very lucky to have been one of the founding members of a young band, known as the "Uptights." They played for a few years as young men and were lucky enough to have gotten the band back together, for their 25th year class reunion, and stayed together, playing, for several more years. Leon is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lendall Meyer. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy Coberly Reece; daughter, Vanessa Plemmons and husband, Andy and son, Coleman Reece Snodgrass, of Fayetteville, Ark.; son, Chadley Vance Reece, of Bentonville; one brother, Gene Reece and wife, Linda, of Rogers; two sisters, Sharon Doyle of Rogers and Virginia Honeycutt of Cherokee Village, Ark., and many other beloved family members. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, November 11, 2016 at Word of Life Fellowship in Bentonville. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Prairie Grove Cemetery in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time.
