Billye Skyrme

Billye J. Skyrme was born June 22, 1929 in Tuckerman, Ark., and passed away on Nov. 10, 2016 in Shreveport, La., after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. She is preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Charles Skyrme, Jr. "Putchie", her mother, Clara Parr Chambers; and her father, Albert Vandiver. Billye is survived by her sons, Michael Skyrme and wife, Sharon Webb Skyrme of Shreveport, La., and Dudley Skyrme and wife, Michelle, of Palestine, Texas. She also leaves four grandchildren, Greg Skyrme and wife, Ann, of Shreveport, La., Michele Burgess and husband, Paul D., of Shreveport, La., Shannon Skyrme and wife, Brandi, of Fayetteville, Ark., and Stephanie Skyrme of St. Petersburg, Fla. Billye also leaves seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, and a special cousin, Nina Patton King. Billye graduated from Tuckerman High School. She was a homemaker most of her adult life, working outside the home for only a brief time. She devoted her adult life to her husband, her children, and her mother. Billye was an active member of Tuckerman United Methodist Church for many years. Several years after Putchie died, Billye moved to Shreveport, La., to be closer to her children and grandchildren. After moving to Shreveport, Billye enjoyed many birthday celebrations and holiday events and other activities with her children and grandchildren before the Alzheimer's disease took its toll. We will miss our Mother and the grandchildren will miss their "Mama Bill." Funeral services will be at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, 2016. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Cemetery. Visitation will be at Jackson's Funeral Home Chapel Monday, from noon-1:30 p.m. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Greg Skyrme, Shannon Skyrme, Ryan Skyrme, Cody Burgess, Zachery Skyrme, and Storm Skyrme.
