Bradley Guy Roberts

As he had for nearly every Sunday for the past 15+ years, Bradley Guy Roberts began November 13, 2016 just like any other. Approximately 14 hours later and after a full day of service to His Lord and Savior, something he committed his life to, His heavenly Father called Bradley to his eternal home among the saints of all the ages. There to welcome him were his parents, William and Marie Roberts, his spiritual mentor, Herbert Meharg, and countless brothers and sisters in Christ whom he impacted over the course of his 58 years on Earth. On this side of eternity, Bradley left behind his beloved wife, Debbie, of 37 years, two sons, Wesley and Ashlee Roberts, Brent Roberts, two grandsons, Brendan and Nicholas Roberts, a granddaughter, Maddy Roberts, his older brothers Owen (Rhonda) Roberts and Troy (Debbie) Roberts all of Bald Knob, and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. Born on January 26, 1958, Bradley spent his life serving others, and had three great loves: his family, his school/community, and his church. Over the course of his 58 years, he used his many God-given talents to influence the lives of thousands in all three areas. For 34 years in education, the last three of which he served in his dream role of superintendent of Bald Knob Schools, Bradley devoted his life to serving students. As a math teacher, curriculum coordinator, and now administrator, he touched the lives of countless individuals. From the opening football game to state championship softball games, Bradley rarely missed a Bulldog activity, and one of his greatest joys was seeing both past and present Bulldogs succeed both on and off the field. He truly bled blue and white, and the Bald Knob School system and community mourn his passing. Despite holding a full-time job, Bradley was equally devoted to his faith and service to the Lord. Whether it was his 20-year calling at Budd Creek Baptist Church Camp, where he spent the vast majority of that time as superintendent, or with his long-time congregation of Independence Missionary Baptist Church, Bradley truly loved his calling. In March of 1980, Bradley and Debbie stepped out by faith and first began their ministry in Pleasant Plains. Little did they know that 38 years later, his final day on this side of eternity would be worshiping with the people who meant the most to him. Whether it was serving the youth, spreading God's word through his weekly sermons and lessons, or leading the church through what others may have seen as impossible building projects, Bradley loved every single minute at Independence. In a few weeks, his final project--the new sanctuary--will officially be finished but his impact on that Church will last a lifetime. Without a doubt, Bradley's most beloved possession was his family. In this hour of grief, his adored wife, sons, and grandchildren hurt, but because of his leadership and guidance, they also have a hope beyond comprehension. The family vacations, the long road trips to ballgames, and the lively dinner conversations--these memories will last a lifetime. And, one day, they look forward to a glorious reunion. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that if you are considering a memorial, please send donations to the Independence Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 296, Pleasant Plains, Arkansas 72568. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home in Bald Knob. Services will be Wednesday, November 16, 2016, 2 p.m., at the Independence Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Goad Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Powell Funeral Home Bald Knob-Judsonia. www.powellfuneralhome.net.
