Ella Marie Dailey

November 12, 2016 was a glorious day as Ella Marie Knight Dailey, 78, took her rightful place in the Kingdom of our Lord. She was born on October 29, 1938 in Tuskegee, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents Brownie Knight, Lorene Zachary Callaway, and Dennis Callaway. She lived in Lonoke, Arkansas for most of her married life and was a devoted member of the Palm Street Church of Christ in Lonoke. Marie was the epitome of the virtuous women described in Proverbs 31. Her heart was much larger than her body as she helped raise her siblings after her father had passed in World War II. She met the love of her life, Dan Dailey, in Washington D.C. and they were married December 22, 1958. They had four boys, two grandsons, and one granddaughter. She cherished her time feeding and caring for her husband and children and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed sharing her wonderful homemade dishes with those in the community and church that were in need. She was a blessing to all who knew her. In addition to raising four children, Marie worked in Lonoke Public School District, was co-owner of Dailey's Furniture Store, and retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Little Rock. Retired was just a figure of speech, as she stayed very active cooking, sewing, and working until her lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease became too much to overcome. She was preceded in death by her beloved Dan, husband of 56 years, on June 9, 2013 and is survived by two sisters, Ann Nichols of Pea Ridge, Arkansas and Emma Pratt of Fort Smith, Arkansas, one brother, Harold Callaway of Rogers, Arkansas, four sons, Tim (Debbie) Dailey of Beebe, Toby Dailey of Lonoke, Terry Dailey of Little Rock, Tony (Julie) Dailey of Jonesboro, and three grandchildren, Coby and Lane Dailey of Beebe and Kerby (Cody) Overturf of Austin. Visitation will be at Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke on Tuesday November 15 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and her funeral will be held at the Palm Street Church of Christ in Lonoke on Wednesday November 16 at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow at Lebanon Cemetery in McRae. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations in her name to the Palm Street Church of Christ, 1115 W. Palm Street, Lonoke, Ark. 72086.
