Geraldine (Jo) L. Cullum Woodiel, a long time resident of Cabot, Arkansas passed away peacefully on Sunday November 13, 2016, ten days before her 83rd birthday. Her husband Melvin E. Woodiel of 40 years of marriage preceded her in death in 1996. For over six months she battled an inoperable gliobastoma brain tumor. She never lost the ability to have a sense of humor and treated everyone with respect, kindness and generosity. She loved the lord and knew him as her personal savior. Prior to her passing, she moved to Gadsden, Alabama to be with her daughter Dr. Gail Woodiel-Brown during her time of illness. Geraldine graduated from Hazen High school and went on to graduate from Wichita State University and received her master's degree from University of Central Arkansas specializing in childhood education. She taught second grade for over 20 years at Cabot Elementary schools and spent many years before her retirement teaching remedial reading. Geraldine's passion was teaching she loved all her students and was devoted to making a difference in her student's lives. Jo's commitment to children and teaching was a passion that drove her throughout her lifetime. She had a special talent for teaching art to students which was another one of her passions. Jo was born on November 23, 1933. She was preceded in death by her father, Emmett Cullum and mother, Ella Cullum, her sister, Jean Neil and brother, Paul Cullum. She is survived by her brothers; William Cullum, Elivs Cullum and sisters; Leoda Burnett and Annie Harvey. Jo was a proud and loving mother, to Dale Woodiel of Oklahoma City and Dr. Gail Brown of Gadsden,Alabama. She is survived by her four grandchildren; Joseph Brown, Bryan Woodiel, Mary Woodiel (Jacob) Workman and Clay (Elizabeth) Woodiel). She is also survived by four great-grandchildren; Isabella Brown, Aurora Woodiel, Jackson Workman and Olivia Workman. The Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home. (501) 843-5816, following the service, interment will be at Mt Carmel Cemetery.
