Dempsey Leon Murphy Sr.

Dempsey Leon Murphy Sr., 78, of Lonoke, Ark., died Friday, Nov. 18, 2016. He was born on May 4, 1938 to Douglas and Marie Brown Murphy. He served in the US Air Force, 18 years at Timex and then retired from the Army National Guard. He is survived by a son, Steven Murphy (Laura); daughter, Donna Westmorland (Berl); daughter-in-law, Hilda Murphy (James); 6 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother, Maxine, Janie and Kenneth; the god-mother of the family, Reba Abbott; and his love, Laura Elwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings and son, Dempsey Leon Murphy Jr. Funeral Service will be held Monday, Nov. 21, 2016 at Smith–North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel, 1921 Main St., with burial following at Sumner Cemetery in Cabot, Ark.Visitation will be held from 2–4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016 at Smith–North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St. Memorial may be made to Arkansas Hospice.
