Sarah Edith Solomon, 94, of El Dorado, passed away Nov. 12, 2016 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. She was born on May 19, 1922, in Hartsell, Ala. She is survived by her son, John Alan Solomon and wife Mary Margaret of Little Rock, Ark.; daughter, Joyce Blair Solomon Olivier and husband Steve of El Dorado, Ark.; Grandchildren, Major John Matthew Solomon of Maryland; George Patrick Solomon of Little Rock, Ark.; Mary Helen Solomon of Nashville, Tenn.; Sarah Beth Solomon Davis and husband Fred of Little Rock, Ark.; Anna Blair Solomon of Little Rock, Ark.; Jennifer Blair Olivier of Little Rock, Ark.; great grandchildren, Samuel Solomon, Bennett Solomon, James Solomon, and Hawkins Solomon of Maryland. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dewitt Humphrey and May Morrow Humphrey; one brother, one sister; husband and the love of her life, John L Solomon; and a grandson, Anthony Joseph Olivier. Edith was a graduate of Auburn University with a B.S. in Home Economics and a minor in Chemistry. After graduation she worked at Tennessee Valley Authority as a Chemist. She married John L. Solomon Feb. 18, 1951. She volunteered at the Medical Center of South Arkansas, then called Union Medical Center, as well as at SAAC Lunch and First Presbyterian Church of El Dorado. She enjoyed using her skills and passion for cooking to make people feel warm and welcomed with delicious food baked with her heart and soul, and, of course, accompanied by her melt-in-your-mouth sugar cookies. She spent time with her grandkids making dessert pizza and watering her pansies. Over the last couple of years, Edith developed a sense of humor that brightened your soul and a child –like giggle that was contagious. She was surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by many. The family will receive friends at Young's Funeral Directors Sunday Nov. 20, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. Services will be held Monday Nov. 21, 2016 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church with Father Charles Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the John R.
