Carl G. Johnson Jr., 88, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016 at his home at Concordia Catered Living. Carl was born in Chicago, Ill. to Carl (Sr.) and Lillian (Ocejo) Johnson. He had two younger sisters, Dorothy and Gladys. All have predeceased him. Carl lost his loving wife of almost 50 years, Carlotta, in December 2000 and his second wife, Phoebe in September 2012. Carl is survived by his three children, Nancy LaBreche of Madison, Wis., Kathy Johnson of Denver, Colo., and Steven Johnson of Hartford, Conn.; grandchildren, Angela, Eric & Christiaan Hanson and Haley Johnson; and eight great-grandchildren. Carl grew up in the mid-west and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. A week after graduation, he married Carlotta Rose and a week later began his career with Chevrolet in St. Louis. Carl spent his entire career with General Motors, retiring in 1985 from GMAD – Janesville, Wis., as the General Superintendent. Carl and Lottie moved to Bella Vista in 1986. They were very involved with "State" Clubs and Neighborhood Watch, and while Carl golfed, Lottie took up painting. Carl golfed well enough to make three different "holes in one"! Two of them in Bella Vista at Berksdale and Scottsdale. Together they enjoyed dinner and dancing at the Country Club and Supper Club, the pontoon parties on Lake Lomond and all the wonderful friends they made in Bella Vista. They traveled the world, enjoyed it all. Carl remained active with his poker group and investment club until his last couple of years. Carl was a loving grandson, son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. We are all enriched by having been a part of his life. Services will be held at Bella Vista Funeral Home, Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016 at 2 p.m. There will be a short graveside service at Bella Vista Funeral Cemetery afterward. A celebration of Carl will be held at Catered Living, 11 Professional Drive, Bella Vista, Ark. All are invited. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
