James E. Jelks

Funeral services will be held for Mr. James E. Jelks, 74, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Homer, La. on Friday, Nov. 25, 2016 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Chuck Johnson and Rev. Dee Anders officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday prior to the service from 2-3 p.m. Mr. Jelks was born July 23, 1942 in McGhee, Ark. to Everett and Ruth Young Jelks. He entered into rest on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016 in Homer, La. Mr. Jelks served his country in the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. He was employed and retired from Great Lakes Chemical as an operator for 22 years. Mr. Jelks was a member of Pleasure Point Baptist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. Mr. Jelks was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Russell Jelks; parents; as well as his step-father, Ross V. Clements. He is survived by two sons, Jimmy Jelks and wife Angela of Greenwood, Ark. and Mark Jelks and wife Renee of White Hall, Ark.; a sister, Helene Clements of Marseille, France; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Jelks Cranford, Macen Jelks, Carly Jelks, Bella Jelks, Mark Alan Jelks, Kaci Jelks and John Jelks; a great-grandchild, Sklyer Cranford; caregiver and special friend, Dianne White; along with numerous nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
