Monroe C. Barrett

Monroe C. Barrett, 88, of Richmond, Ky., passed away Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, in Lexington, Ky. He was born May 24, 1928 in Bono, Ark., the youngest child and only son of Marzee Cate Barrett and Sophia (Mengers) Barrett. Mr. Barrett was a graduate of the University of Arkansas College of Engineering and spent his entire professional career working in design and testing for International Harvester, which later became Case IH. His work in the cotton division took him all over the world. He was highly respected within his profession and was a sought-after consultant following his retirement. Mr. Barrett was a US Army veteran, having served at the US Army Engineering Test Center in Ft. Belvoir, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Emily (Toni) of the home; son, Charles and wife Ginger of Ft Walton Beach, Fla. and Fayetteville, Ark.; daughter, Jane Barrett of Clarksville, Ark.; sisters, Sarah Barrett Watkins of Jonesboro, Mary Barrett Dunn of Memphis, Tenn.; nephew, Bobby Dunn and wife Vickie of Memphis, Tenn.; and great-niece, Katie Dunn of Memphis, Tenn. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016 at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, Jonesboro, with chapel service to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Oaklawn (Woodlawn) Cemetery.
