Gene Woodfield

Gene Woodfield, 86, of Pine Bluff, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016. Born Curtis E. Woodfield Nov. 18, 1930 in Jefferson County, he was the son of Curtis and Lois May Woodfield. Mr. Woodfield was reared and received his early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Watson Chapel High School. He served in the United States Army as a medic during the Korean Conflict. Gene worked for the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department for many years, retiring in 1987 as an assistant maintenance engineer. He was a very passionate and active member of First Assembly of God in Pine Bluff, serving as a board member. Gene loved the Lord with all of his heart and was dedicated to his church. He considered his many church members and friends to be extended family. Gene was a wonderful husband and father who loved his family dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roy Woodfield. Survivors include his wife, Jeri Aycock Woodfield, whom he married July 10, 1955 in Indianola, Miss.; two daughters, Vicki Woodfield Miller of Franklin, Tenn., and Teresa Woodfield Sanford of Pine Bluff; brother, Wayne Woodfield of San Jose, Calif.; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016 at First Assembly of God with Reverend Gary Bell officiating to celebrate Gene's life.
