JO ANN GANN, 84 of Little Rock joined the angels in Heaven on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24. Born in Alexandria, La., on March 11, 1932 she was married to the love of her life, Jim for 47 wonderful years who preceded her in death in 2000. Jo Ann was active in the arts and created many beautiful paintings over the years. Her volunteer efforts were many including den leader for Cub Scouts, Extension Homemaker's Clubs, Salvation Army Auxiliary, 4H Leader, CARTI, VA Hospital, Herb Society member, and also worked on Winthrop Rockefeller's gubernatorial campaign in '66. Jo Ann loved making crafts and was a talented and accomplished gardener and flower arranger, both dried and fresh. Founding her own home-based business, Sweet Woods & Viney Things, she participated in craft shows where she sold her beautiful ornamental wreaths, potpourri and dried flower arrangements. Late in her working years she served as a Nutrition Aide for the Pulaski County Extension Service teaching low income families about nutrition and cooking. After retirement Jo Ann used her love for antiques and collectables to open a booth at Mid-Towne Antique Mall where they loved to see her bring in her treasures. Her life was all about creativity and helping others and she rarely met a stranger. A special thank you to the staff at the House of 3 and Kindred Hospice for their warm and compassionate care. Jo Ann is survived by her son, Craig of Little Rock and daughter, Gigi Butler (Michael); two grandsons, James Dylan Butler and Julian Michael Butler both of Little Rock; two brothers, Bruce Holmes (Sherry), of Kinder La., and Robert Holmes of Pineville La. A visitation and celebration of her life will be Saturday, Dec. 3 from 2-4 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home 5800 W. 12th St, Little Rock, Ark. 72204. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. Please share your messages of love, comfort and support with the family at www.griffinleggetthealeyroth.com.
